Friday 17th February was the beginning of London Fashion Week, an exciting time for many. Those who are fashion conscious will have had their eyes on upcoming trends to see what their new wardrobe must-haves will be this year.

But let’s be realistic. We can’t afford those runway garments. And if we’re honest, could we really justify spending that amount of money on clothing anyway? Especially if we’re planning on updating our wardrobe every season.

We spent the morning in a Salvation Army charity shop to see if we could recreate Fashion Week looks for less. Take a look at the results:

Big sleeves were heavily featured in collections this season, as well as bold prints. We found this top with ruffle detail on the sleeves and a great pair of print trousers.

A crisp white shirt and blue jeans – you can’t go wrong!

Light blue and detailed lace is a winner this season!

Patterns are everywhere. Go for a blue and white tiled print for a classic look that’s easily wearable.

For a chic smart look go tweed! These peg trousers are such a close match to the Fashion Week look we couldn’t believe our luck!

It wouldn’t be an Autumn/Winter collection without a bit of Fairisle pattern.

Small, dainty patterns on dresses are a big look this season. Pair with tights and boots.

Yet more print! This season, anything goes – big and bold works just as well as small and dainty!

Simple and chic – this navy dress and scarf work perfectly together

This might take you back to your school days, but tartan is making a comeback!

A classic look – the white shirt will never go out of style. Paired here with a black coat for a chic and sophisticated outfit

Another nod to school uniform days, this pinafore and shirt combination is bang on trend.

So what do you think of our London Fashion Week recreations? Our motto is never underestimate the charity shop! You can find some absolute gems, and all for a fraction of the cost!
