Recycle with Michael launched in London Borough schools

Children from five schools in Waltham Forest have made donations of clothing and shoes to The Salvation Army as part of the charity’s Recycle with Michael scheme which aims to encourage waste reduction.

The children, from Mission Grove Primary School, Jenny Hammond Primary School, Connaught School for Girls, Hornbeam Academy and Downsell Primary School, collected a total of 600 kilosThe donations were collected by a Salvation Army collector and the profits made from the donations were split between the charity and the schools.

Oliver Peat, Waste and Recycling Officer for Waltham Forest Local Authority said “Recycle with Michael is a great scheme that we are pleased to support. It encourages school children to reduce waste, whilst helping to raise money for their school and the charity.

“The school collections were successful and we hope to make more donations in future”
