Do Nation launches declutter campaign
From 1st September – 30th November, Do Nation is running ‘Clothes Call’, a campaign to encourage people to pledge to declutter their wardrobe.
Sponsored by Love Your Clothes, this campaign focuses on why it’s important to dispose of old clothes responsibly. Those who pledge to declutter their wardrobe enter themselves into a prize draw with a chance to win a £200 Red Letter Days experience voucher!
So why should you declutter your wardrobe? Here are just 3 of the reasons:
Feel good factor
When you have decluttered, not only will a breath of fresh air swish through your wardrobe, finding your outfit in the morning will be a breeze!
You will also feel good knowing that your clothes haven’t ended up in landfill, and instead have gone on to be loved by someone else.
Help charity shops
When you donate your preloved clothing to a charity shop, the money raised will be helping to support an important cause. The Salvation Army work to support vulnerable and disadvantaged people all over the world, including those experiencing homelessness, poverty, unemployment and modern slavery.
Reusing clothes and recycling textiles saves resources and raw materials and reduces the environmental impact of clothing.
The carbon footprint of clothing in the UK has risen by over 9% in 4 years, to 26.2 million tonnes CO2e in 2016. The culture of “fast fashion” means people are buying more clothing more often, which has detrimental effects of the environment.
