The Wellingborough Warehouse opens its doors to the public

The annual SP&S Open Day was once again a success this year, as customers arrived in their hundreds to browse the shelves, tuck into some homemade cake and even guess the name of a teddy bear.

On the morning of Saturday 29 July, the doors of the SP&S warehouse were opened as the annual open day took place. The day gives those who cannot visit the trade counter during the week (and don’t want to travel to London on a Saturday morning) to shop with SP&S with the luxury of having full stock available to them.

SP&S General Manager, Ken Kendall, said “The Open Day always attracts people from far and wide who cannot get to us during the week! It’s an opportunity for us to boost our sales, and we use the event to generate a bit of excitement with our customers”.

Lee Parker, Procurement Manager, came forward with his innovative “Name the Bear” competition, giving customers the chance to win a brand new Salvation Army bear if they guessed his name correctly.

Lee said “The day is a real team effort with employees from the Support Centre volunteering their time to help out. Our warehouse staff took a lot of time to present the warehouse well, and many people baked homemade cakes to be sold on the day. It’s always an enjoyable day and we get a great customer response, so it’s a win win!”

Takings on the day were more than 10 times that of an average day at the Wellingborough Trade Counter.
