The Salvation Army Charity Shop in Wilmslow, tucked away on Water Lane, is a treasure trove of amazing finds. As one of just three ‘Boutique’ Salvation Army shops, it specialises in designer and individual goods, with previous donations including a Gucci handbag, Karen Millen and Ted Baker dresses, an Armani suit and a Diesel watch.

The shop was opened back in March of this year in response to an increasing demand for high quality pre-loved items. Wilmslow was hand selected as a prime location for a Boutique, identified as a town with stylish residents and in close proximity to Manchester.

As well as providing a quirky atmosphere for vintage and designer lovers to scour the rails, the shop also offers a unique service whereby customers can register their interest in a particular designer or item and staff will do their best to track down donations.

Manager Rachel Hobson said ‘I love managing the Boutique in Wilmslow. Taking time to select items that I know our customers love is really worthwhile when we receive such good feedback. Many customers say they can’t believe it’s a charity shop when they step inside!’

But, like all charity shops, it couldn’t survive without the help of volunteers. Rachel added ‘I’d also like to encourage anyone who feels they have the time, to volunteer with us. Volunteering is a fantastic way to spend your time: not only is it helpful and a way of serving your community but it is also very rewarding. It is a great way to meet new people, learn new skills and feel like you are doing some good’. There are even opportunities to achieve qualifications including NVQs. And of course a cup of tea will always be provided!

The shop also have plans to run a series of promotions in line with the monthly Artisan Market held in Wilmslow, so if you’re a sucker for a sale and love to find those one-of-a-kind items keep your eyes peeled!
