Glaitness School children first in Orkney Islands to recycle for Salvation Army

Glaitness School in the Orkney Islands town of Kirkwall has teamed up with Salvation Army Trading Company to join a recycling scheme. The children at the school were the first in Orkney to partner with the charity, which will see them donate their unwanted clothes, shoes and other textile items to help raise money for their school as well as The Salvation Army.

A new life for end-of-life textiles

Last week, we headed to the internationally renowned and critically acclaimed arts college, Central Saint Martins, to meet groups of second year BA Fashion Communication & Promotion and BA Fashion Knitwear students. We’re delighted to be working with the college again this year on a design project, which aims to create fashion concepts from donated materials, giving new life to seemingly end-of-life clothes.

Crowd welcomes new Salvation Army charity shop in Aldershot

A crowd of local residents gathered this morning to welcome the new Salvation Army Trading Company charity shop in Aldershot, which officially opened at 10.30am. Lieutenant-Colonel David Shakespeare, Assistant Divisional Commander for The Southern Division of The Salvation Army performed the ribbon-cutting ceremony and welcomed shoppers inside.

Donation banks across Devon and Torbay raise vital funds for Salvation Army

Residents across Devon and Torbay will now be able to help raise vital funds for The Salvation Army just by donating their unwanted clothes, shoes and other textiles. Thanks to a recent decision from a Devon and Torbay’s partnership, Salvation Army Trading Company has been awarded the contract to manage over 70 donation banks as well as a number of kerbside collections throughout the county.

Dudley couple transforms Salvation Army charity shop into haven of vinyl and film

Julie Cook, manager of the Salvation Army charity shop in Dudley, and her partner Ray Smith, who also works at the shop, have transformed their charity shop at 193 High Street into a haven for music and film enthusiasts. The new-look first floor space in the shop will officially open at 9am on Friday 13 May.
