Canvey Island welcomes new Salvation Army shop

Former Miss Scotland and Miss United Kingdom (2010) Nicola Mimnagh, modelled specially-created  Zero Waste fashion collections in Glasgow on 15 March, in the window of the Salvation Army Trading Company’s flagship store in Dumbarton Road. Two Scottish designers have transformed unwanted clothing donated to the charity into striking high-fashion collections challenging perceptions of textile waste.

Research by the charity found that we each get at least three gifts we don’t want at Christmas, with over 40 per cent of these ending up at the bottom of our cupboards*. With this in mind, The Salvation Army is asking people to simply donate any unwanted items to charity in the New Year.
