Having been open since 2010, the Salvation Army’s charity shop on Maldon’s High Street is celebrating as a band of five volunteers mark five years of service. Kevin Jennings, the charity shop manager, himself opened the shop five years ago and is today delighted to have welcomed his area manager, Elaine Sanderson, who presented his volunteers with long-service awards.

Manchester facilities manager finds way to repay The Salvation Army… in clothes

Manchester facilities manager, Neil Leisham, has found a way to repay the kindness showed to him by The Salvation Army after the charity helped him as a boy. Neil, who runs the Cheshire Cleaning Company, manages the facilities for the Saltra Apartments on Elmira Way in Salford and has installed a Salvation Army textile recycling bank for residents. The bank will help to raise money for the charity through the donation of clothes and shoes.

Residents in Wyre now able to donate to Salvation Army through kerbside recycling thanks to council partnership

Textiles collected from the kerbside of residents in Wyre will now be donated to charity, thanks to a new arrangement between the council and the Salvation Army Trading Company. As part of its regular fortnightly recycling collection, over 50,000 households will be able to drop their unwanted clothes, shoes and other textiles at the kerbside with their usual recycling, in the knowledge that their donations will now go towards helping The Salvation Army.
